Interim Fire Safety Certificate: EPAR

interim fire safety certificateAn interim fire safety certificate is a certificate issued under Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulations 2000 (EPAR) by the owner of a building to the effect that each essential fire safety measure specified in the current fire safety schedule for the part of the building to which the certificate relates has:

  • been assessed by a properly qualified person, and
  • found, when it was assessed, to be capable of performing to at least the standard required by the current fire safety schedule for the building for which the certificate is issued.

Interim Fire Safety Certificate: Time and Issue

The assessment of the fire safety measures must have been carried out within 3 months prior to the date on which the interim fire safety certificate is issued. A copy of the interim fire safety certificate must be forwarded to the Fire Commissioner of NSW Fire Brigades, and the owner must cause a copy of the interim fire safety certificate, together with a current copy of the "fire safety schedule" to be prominently displayed for the occupiers in the building.
